About Lexington
The barbecue capital, and a lot more
Lexington was incorporated in 1828 and named for Lexington, Massachusetts, where the first shots of the Revolutionary War were fired. It's the seat of Davidson County, about 20 miles south of Winston-Salem, with I-85 and US 29, 52, 64 and 70 all passing through.
Most people know it for pork shoulder slow-cooked over hickory, chopped, and served with a vinegar-based sauce and red slaw. A plaque downtown marks where the first known Lexington-style barbecue was sold from tents over open pits, and the town has thrown its Barbecue Festival since 1984.
Textiles and furniture drove the local economy until the late 1990s. Today it's a mix of small manufacturers, trades, restaurants and the businesses that serve High Rock Lake just to the south.

- Is your office in Lexington?
- No. We work out of Mooresville, southwest of here, and we'd rather tell you that than fake a local address. Calls, email and screen shares cover nearly everything, and Roger will make the drive when meeting face to face is worth it.
- How soon can I have a new site?
- Smaller sites usually launch about a week after kickoff; bigger ones take two or three. Your photos and feedback set most of the pace.
- Who owns the website?
